Canned Fish Production

Gamma-A produces some 140 kinds of canned fish, but the most demanded is sprat in oil, produced according to ancient traditions since 1947. 

The secret of the superior quality of our products is simple – we work with fresh wet fish, impale it manually, smoke it with white alder chips and case it, again, manually.

Our company offers also Atlantic fish products: herring, mackerel, sardines, sardinillas as well as delicious sprat spread, fish balls, noisettes, and a gourmet specialty – cod liver. Our production capacity is up to 6 mil. fish cans a month. 

Thanks to the HACCP internal quality control system, we are closely monitoring all production phases as well as the quality of the raw fish supplied. Our own metal cans ‘ production ensures consistent quality and provides an additional guarantee for our canned products.

Canned Mushroom Production

January 2006, SIA “Gamma-A” opened a new branch of operations – champignon mushroom farm in Ķekava un processing facility in Mangaļsala, Riga.

In Kekava, mushrooms are raised in 6 chambers with total farming space 9200 m2, employing the technology known as the Dutch intensive farming. Using the “full grow” compost allows to harvest in 42 day cycles or 7 times a year, which annual output 1,200 tons of fresh mushrooms. Filling and distribution of the compost as well as mushroom harvesting are fully automated. 

In the processing plant, the mushrooms are packaged into glass and metal containers of different sizes with marinade and natural brines. Wide packaging options allow offering the products to diverse customer groups, from public catering to food industry. Industrial customers are supplied with mushrooms in 2650 ml packaging while households prefer 425 ml and 300 ml packaging.

The capacity of the processing facility allows to process up to 8 tons of fresh mushrooms per shift.

Canmaking in company GAMMA-A

For own tinned fish production, company GAaMMA-A produce following metal packaging: two piece drawn round and non-round cans, round ends, round and non-round Easy Open ends (EOE).

For printed and lacquered metal packaging production will be used only scroll cut sheet material and used production lines with precise sheet feed systems, which give possibility to produce good quality packaging. 

Four draw can lines;one round end line and two Easy Open End lines cover all needed metal packaging volumes for own tinned fish production.
